Essential Question for this Reflection
Where are you in your innovation project?
I am in the process of implementing this method of instruction with my students giving them the opportunity to take ownership and voice in their learning journey. They started working on their daily schedule according to a playlist customized to their specific educational needs focused to improve their reading fluency.
What if anything do you have to complete?
I have been implementing and sharing the ideas developed in my professional learning outline with my co-workers. However, they already know that the most important point in this innovation plan is to encourage our students to reflect, connect, and learn as they take ownership of their learning process. Furthermore, some phases of my PL outline have been coverage related to phase I. It is where we build and create background knowledge. Other aspects of my PL are still pending, for example to complete the whole plan I need to complete the phase II of my PL. I am waiting to fully implement my whole plan for the rest of the school year.
What could you do better?
Emphasizing in my organization on designing more effective professional learning instead of attending to those extended and large training where teachers do not learn what they are expected to. There is no way to be successful implementing professional development if you do not provide teachers with quality professional development. Moreover, by practicing teacher-led collaboration, teachers can explore creativity through choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity (COVA models) allowing participants a first-hand experience in which they can relate to the students and grant them very significant opportunities.
What lesson have you learned?
This is a great question especially because I am not the same teacher since I started this grateful adventure called ADL. From this program I have learned to be a growth mindset person, and how I can use it to be implemented with my students. Also, I have learned. The need for significant change in my organization and in general across the board. I strongly believe that I will continue addressing challenges implementing the learning environment elements as passion, imagination and creativity. Also, remind my students that instead of saying I do not know how to do it they can say I do not know yet (the power of yet). Also, I am going to continue implementing the COVA models like choice, ownership, voice and authentic learning will help to motivate them to achieve their reading goal. This is a great opportunity for them to build their growth mindset.

In addition, I learned how to incorporate the concept of "play" in my classroom which is the key to making activities or lessons more engaging while they are learning. Creating a significant learning environment through blended learning, boosts student engagement, collaboration and creativity. This method of teaching integrates new technology with traditional instructor-led classroom activities, giving students more flexibility (doing this more enjoyable) to customize their learning experiences.
What worked?
Implementing blended learning models in my classroom has worked well. They started working on a daily schedule with activities focused on their academic goals. Also, other teachers are expecting to know how this project is working to start implementing in their own classroom. Students have the possibility of taking ownership in their activities creating a true reflection of their learning journey. Putting in practice concepts learned in this ADL program. Using growth mindset language, reflecting and sharing the COVA+CSLE to be more effective in the classroom through a real learning environment.
