Technology is the future and every student should be given the opportunity to have it in schools even at home too and use it to learn from it but it is necessary to create a learning environment appropriate for them. Without a doubt, it gives learners choice, ownership and voice through other opportunities that will help learners learn how to learn.
First of all, I have been designing and developing my instructional blended learning plan to help students improve their reading fluency. This course was designed to be implemented for 3rd grade bilingual students.
At this point it was necessary to apply the usability testing on my course. In order to get the important feedback it required to create a survey about my course and send it to the stakeholders and users. I was able to ask some peers from my EDLD 5318 to help me with this testing. Also, I asked other users as teachers from another school district to test out my course.
One of the most importants people that I contented to test out my course was Mrs. Rodriguez, who is an experienced teacher in elementary school with more than 15 years of experience to get her review about my blended learning course called improving reading levels by implementing blended learning models. She also has a master degree in education which is very important to get more feedback and address in the right way my course. She was able to analyze my course from the perspective of her experience and students' needs in elementary schools.
In Addition, reflecting on my peers' comments, they agreed that all the modules/week were presented in a clear way, they think that this is a blended learning course and it has enough opportunities for collaboration. Moreover they mentioned that the "Improving Reading Levels-Blended Learning" course has content relevant and engaging for students.
On the other hand, in the video below I am going to share my reflections and I will be talking about the testers' observations related to my course.
At the beginning of this master one of the requirement was create a innovation plan to be implemented, during this challenging time I have been learning how to consider theories and models through differents authors that helps us to planning online courses, I need to admit that it has taken time and effort, but at the same time it is a precious time too. Online resources are a powerful tool to help students to reach their academic goals and be successful in life. I firmly believe that modern education must be student-centered, which is necessary to create significant learning environments where learners have choice, ownership, and voice as they are given authentic learning experiences.
